Although the official date is not set yet, it seems Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao fight will become a reality to all boxing fans with set target date on May 2, 2015. When Mayweather wants that date, he gets it referring to Cinco de Mayo weekend fight which is also a target date for Canelo Alvarez scheduled fight next year.
After all the back and forth shenanigans by both camps, Mayweather finally breaks silence and directly respond his intention to fight Pacquiao with a set date in an interview with Showtime on Friday night. Mayweather was quoted via ESPN,
“So let’s make this fight happen. Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum, you guys have been ducking us for years,” Mayweather said. “We’re tired of you guys fooling the public, fooling the critics. You guys didn’t want to take random blood and urine testing, so that’s why it didn’t happen. Then I offered you $40 million, then you didn’t want to make the fight happen. You lost twice, now you coming back begging for the same money. That’s not gonna happen. Let’s make the fight happen for the people and the fans. Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao also responded on his Instagram post that he will do all his power to make the fight with Mayweather happen. Pacquiao said that the two reasons why he will fight Floyd are it’s the request of his oldest son and the boxing fans want it. So embrace the Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao fight.
