Today’s Warriors vs ’96 Bulls comparison continues. When the Golden State Warriors beat San Antonio Spurs last Sunday, it was the team’s 81st game – second to the last on the 82 grueling NBA season games. The victory gave the Warriors 72 wins to 9 losses and tying the 1996 Chicago Bulls record of wins. But the defending NBA champion has a chance to break the Bulls record when they host Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, on the 81st game in the 1995-96 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls suffered a heartbreaking 1-point loss 100-99 against Indiana Pacers. The score was tied at 99 with few seconds remaining in the regulation but Michael Jordan fouled Eddie Johnson in an act of shooting. Johnson made the first free throw for the lead and intentionally missed the second FT in order to burn the time left which was five seconds. The loss gave them their 10th in 71-10 record. Jordan scored 24 points, Scottie Pippen 11, Toni Kucoc 20, Steve Kerr 6, and Dennis Rodman has 15 rebounds.
